As NewTeeVee notices, comScore latest video metrics show that U.S. Internet denizens watched half a billion fewer videos in April than they did in March.
Total videos watched dropped 4%, from 11.5 billion to 11 billion -- perhaps not a catastrophic dip, but certainly one worth wondering about.
April was when TV began to recover from the strike and new episodes began filtering in again. Plus you had "American Idol" reaching a crescendo and the NBA playoffs starting. Add the wall-to-wall election coverage from the cable news networks, and TV had a pretty good stretch.
But it's only a guess that TV accounted for the Web declines. It could also have been the improving weather. I know I went outside a few times in April. Or even that people are finally getting bored of YouTube, the Internet, their computers, and this cramped-up, claustrophobic and impersonal modern situation. Somehow I doubt it, though. ...

SIR ELTON JOHN has reportedly been offered a multi-million dollar (pound) pay cheque to play an hour-long gig for a female Russian mogul.
The British singer is set to receive $5.2 million (GBP2.6 million) to perform at the launch of the tycoon's new hotel in Moscow, Russia, later this year (08).
If the star accepts the deal, he will set a record for the highest fee ever paid to a single artist
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Initially Elton turned (it) down because he's so busy. But when the offer crossed the GBP2 million barrier it was too much to refuse, even for someone of his means. And let's be honest, GBP2.6 million buys a hell of a lot of flowers.
"He's on the verge of saying yes."
Sir John, 61, pocketed $3 million (GBP1.5 million) when he performed at a private gig in 2001.
Bryce Dallas Howard is in discussions to replace Charlotte Gainsbourg in McG's Terminator sequel, reports claim.
Gainsbourg, who starred alongside Heath Ledger in I'm Not There, had been set to play the wife of John Connor (Christian Bale), leader of the human resistance in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins but has been forced to withdraw from the project due to a scheduling conflict.
And according to the Hollywood Reporter, The Village star Howard is in negotiations to take the role.
The daughter of actor and director Ron Howard, she recently completed filming opposite Chris Evans and Ellen Burstyn in Jodie Markell's The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond.
Gainsbourg's departure has been provoked by the potential for an actor's strike as the Screen Actors' Guild (SAG) has failed to reach an agreement with Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) regarding remuneration over redistribution of their work on DVD and other media.
Were a strike to happen, shooting would be postponed temporarily, raising the possibility of clash for Gainsbourg between Terminator Salvation and a French comedy to which she is attached.
McG, helmer of both Charlie's Angels features, is to follow in the footsteps of James Cameron and Jonathan Mostow in directing Terminator Salvation: due for release on May 22nd 2009.
While the plot of the fourth film has been largely kept under wraps, it is believed it could be the start of a three-picture exploration of the human battle for survival after much of the Earth has been obliterated by Skynet - the computer that controlled the machines - in a nuclear holocaust.
